How To Get 9927 Hits In One Year On Gaia

I really don't know the answer to that,
but it was the number on my profile page this morning.
It was suggested by a fellow Gaian, that it's because I use the word naked in my status too much, or because I post videos.
Who knows? Who cares?

I'm just happy to have the chance to enjoy this community
with its ups and downs.
The learning experience is so much more
than I would have thought.
As a contrast:
Pre-Gaia I never: wrote a blog, posted a video, hyper-linked, knew what html actually was, or connected with people from around the world who I've never met.
Gaia times: Blog regularly on Gaia and the two other blogs I've since created; engage in networking on many levels, personal, social & professional;
have minor understanding of code, stockpile my vid faves;
feel connected to people all around the globe;
and have a growing understanding of the impact we make on each other-
negatively and positively.
I want to say thank you!!
to Gaia's team for creating a structure within which
we can express ourselves
share joy, pain and laughs
explore mysteries
and
learn and grow as sacred humans
(Okay, I kinda went crazy with hyper links, but the nostalgia of interactions
with all the beautiful people here, got a hold on me.)
You have inspired me and and I am so grateful for the friends I've made,
whether you're on my list or not:-)

Thanks for bringing me over for diversion.
Happy 1st Gaianniversary to you. I remember mine fondly, though I never thought to make much fuss. Was just amazed at the changes a year brought in me. Like you - I had never written a blog or posted an image or video. I had never been in a community. I explored one before Gaia but it didn’t take hold of me the way Gaia did.
So many cherished friends since joining. Glad you became one. Congratulations for sticking around - it is an accomplishment in it’s own right.
Here for the long haul - both of us - I hope.

Oh janet! I didn’t read all the other comments this morning and all the other Gaia celebration pics but just wanted to say I think you are such a special person here on Gaia. Look at how we all love you!! Happy Gaia anniversary. (you & I got active right about the same time….next Monday is my “real” anniversary….not the same as when I signed up….long story.) Anyway as I told you on your grapevine yesterday you are awesome. Not only do you do naked coffee, you are also thoughtful, honest, always willing to look deeper, humble, loving, caring, interesting…..oh I could just keep thinking & typing words which describe you. I kinda liked you went ( in your own words) crazy with the hyper links for
being a new friend it gave me an opportunity to get to know you a bit better. I really appreciated reading some of your blogs.
Didn’t wanna show up without a birthday present so I got you an interesting fragment of the movie Meetings with remarkable men. I don’t know if you ever saw it, I did years ago when it just came out and forgat most of it but remember I really liked it at the time. Anyway I thought it kind of fit in with the whole vibe of the new moon riddle. Enjoy!

yes, i wish facebook or some other sites like it had a blogging facility too. And one that I own the copyright of my own writing. Does gaia still get to own yours? In that case I wont be writing much here either.
But I am glad you are stil lhere. :)
You can blog on Facebook using the “notes”, but it’s not as functional as what we have here on Gaia, nor is it as intuitive (IMHO). Which is something worth considering when folks are griping about changes here:-) also IMHO ;-)

Ah Hu Li? As Janet wrote, Facebook does have a bit of a blogging section, though it’s called ‘Notes’ and functions a little differently. Also, when you write on Gaia, you’ll always retain the copyright to anything you post! We have a ‘limited license’ that we ask you to approve so as to give us permission to post your words on our site (without that we couldn’t ‘publish’ your blog online at all), but you’ll always retain the rights. (Also, don’t forget that Facebook has not just their own privacy policy and set of terms, but their own staff of employees. They just happen to be a little more anonymous than Jodi and Matthew and our three developers…)

Yikes! That should come as no surprise…I like to think I’m immune to the ads, but when stuff is in your face repeatedly, it starts to form a little niche in the brain I think.
that’s exactly why I would not participate in the 25 things about yourself (use 1 word) where you had to tag 25 other people too.
I did not want to tell personal details on facebook about my lifestyle and what I buy or own or marital status or stuff that seems innocent. Oh sure, I tell private stuff that happened to me, but that is my choice of where I post it.
I still have a queasy feeling about divulging info which could be used for identity theft, and those warning come up that say you are agreeing for the information to be shared. That stopped me many times for consenting or joining some of the applications. It seems like innocent fun, but I am sure all the info is being easily mined and we will be the target market for who knows? So Facebook friends, I love you, but I will not use many of those thousands of applications which are just mining tools. but I am realistic enough to know that maybe everyone will be on Facebook eventually. How it evolves? well, who knows. It is a a good communication tool, but there are definitely down sides about PRIVACY that we should at least consider before telling all on Facebook. Keep the fun part, and be wary.

Mimi~ I’m with you on the 25 things…I’ve had the urge to share, cuz it’s fun to read other people’s things;-), but then I get a little queasy at the thought of being run through some filter or a FB employee looking through and sorting me into categories based on my responses.
